Do Miracles Really Happen? Buddha Inspirational Quotes: Of the Magic Key and the Miracle of Nature
“If you wish to know the divine, feel the wind on your face and the warm sun on your hand.”
Buddha inspirational quotes
Here is a very interesting story about a lost key that was found in the most unusual way.
This story actually happened to me personally. It is one of those stories that will no doubt cause you to try and figure a rational explanation for how a lost key came back into my possession without human intervention.
Here is a little bit of important background. The first thing you need to know is that I am mostly blind. I say this because imagine trying to find a little lost key when you can’t see it.
Where I live, it is out in the country. My mother and her husband are my nearest neighbors, and I have the key to their house on my key ring. I use one of those plastic spiral wrist straps for my keys.
I walk my dog Molly Flagtail several times a day, and so I take the long, rocky path down from my house past Mom’s place to the road and then across the highway. We either walk onto the grassy area across the road or walk about 1/4 mile of the road for her sniffing and relief
Somewhere, amongst the stones and grass, I lost the key to my mother’s house.
When I went to open the door to my mother’s house, I discovered that the key was missing from my key ring.
Well, finding a key out in the country where there’s lots of rocks and grass and long pathways is about as easy as finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.
I mentioned to my mom that the key had gone astray and to please keep her eye open for it among the rocks. But yet I did not feel concerned. I knew with certainty that I would somehow come upon the key.
As I was out walking the dog, I would keep myself aware, and I would imagine having that key. Said key would be perfectly safe and would not fall into the wrong hands. I had confidence it would come back to me.
Each time I was out, I would focus on the key for a moment with the feeling of finding it and holding it in my hand. When the birds called out to me or a squirrel would skitter past, I would say, “Please let me know if you see my missing key. Thanks!”
Was this a miracle prayer? You decide what makes sense for you. To me, I was simply connecting with nature holding positive expectancy in my thoughts, words and deeds, as I typically do unless I temporarily forget my way.
Three days passed and still no key.
A very funny thing happened to me. At night, I walked right out my front door to go close the chicken coop. As I stepped outside my door, I heard a little clink at my feet.
The key was on my porch right in front of my door.
I realize you might be thinking that the key had fallen there and it was right there on the porch for those several days. But it is quite frankly not possible.
With my various comings and goings numerous times a day to walk the dog, take care of the chickens, do everything else I need to do, I certainly would have come upon it. Either I would have found it with my foot or by my dog noticing. She notices any new thing that comes on to the porch all the time.
My mom came up the hill to my house 3 separate times during those 3 days and she never saw the key lying on the porch or anywhere else. She even said she had looked for it whenever she was out on the property.
The very interesting thing about this key is that it was mysteriously returned to me.
Mom said maybe her husband Bruce had put it on the porch. I replied, “Mr. Fort Knox? He would NEVER leave a house key on the porch. He would give it to me and lecture me about having lost it.”
She then suggested someone else had returned it. “I was home all day and nobody knocked on the door.” A visitor would have to either drive up or walk up past my mom’s house, which Molly and I would have heard. Nobody did.
Even if for some odd reason someone walked up and left it, Molly would have heard. Plus why wouldn’t they have left it at the much easier location of Mom’s place right by the road if they had found it?
Nobody other than Mom or Bruce would have known the key was mine.
So I maintain that because of my positive mindset and because of my close kinship with the animals and elements around me, somehow, and by whatever means I WISH I had seen, the key came home to me.
This is a minor miracle. This was an experience of the divine in “ordinary life.” As the inspirational quotes from the Buddha say, to feel the natural elements like wind and sun is to experience divinity.
This takes nothing away from anyone’s religious or spiritual beliefs. it does not alter anyone’s belief in God, Angels, benevolent spirits or whatever touches your soul.
Let these inspirational thoughts ignite your imagination. Only imagine what would happen if you truly believed in the power of a miracle: prayer, thought, expectancy, or inspiration, or any other form you care to consider.
How can I open myself to wonders and miracles in everyday life?
Here are some things you can do starting right now.
1. Set aside your skepticism.
